Precepts, actions, interaction

Post meditation thought:

Each of the 10 primary precepts I follow (5 Reiki 5 Dharma) all deal with action and interaction. This is a very interesting observation. It seems, enlightenment isn’t just some stroke of inspiration, some knowledge to be attained akin to a Google search. Enlightenment is both a realization of and constant expression of the Way / the ultimate Truth.

  • Do not anger
  • Do not worry
  • Be humble / grateful
  • Work hard / honestly
  • Be / Show compassion to all / yourself and others
  • Do not kill / harm
  • Do not steal
  • Maintain discipline / Refrain from sensual misconduct
  • Do not lie
  • Maintain discipline / Refrain from consumption of poisons that cause heedlessness

Each of these have an outer, inner, and transient quality about their truth and application. For example, do no anger can be extrapolated to:

  • Do not harbor enmity or hatred toward others
  • Do not cultivate poor habits that lead to stressful inner states
  • Let go of dualism and see clearly / without judgement

This is exactly why study isn’t everything. One must put the wisdom into action and be the ultimate reality, living with discipline, with freedom sans fetters, letting nature take its course.
